10 World Trade – Pedestrian Land Bridge

Project Summary – New England Prefab

At Boston’s 10 World Trade development in the Seaport District, a distinctive pedestrian land bridge reconnects two parcels previously separated by Interstate-90 ramps. The bridge transforms what was once a transportation barrier into a continuous public landscape and pedestrian pathway, linking the surrounding streets, open space, and building frontage.

New England Prefab supported the project through a year long Design Assist process with a budget and schedule goal that was only achievable through offsite construction using StoPanel Prefab Metal Panels. StoPanel founding affiliate, Jersey Panel provided the Engineering and fabrication for this very complicated bridge facade. MassDOT road closures at night were required by the owner for safety and to minimize traffic impacts during construction over active highway. Off-site fabrication allowed key structural elements to be manufactured with precision and installed quickly, minimizing disruption while meeting the project’s demanding structural and logistical requirements.

The bridge supports both pedestrian circulation and a layered landscape system that includes soil depths for trees, shrubs, and meadow plantings. Through close coordination with the design and engineering teams, the structure was integrated with the landscape design to create a seamless experience that elevates the public realm.

The completed land bridge serves as both infrastructure and destination—expanding accessible green space while strengthening pedestrian connectivity within Boston’s rapidly growing Seaport District.
